Mizrach Jewels Original Art
Size: 11½" x 17½"  $700.00

Lavish jewels embellish a rich ultramarine background which encompasses a border of bright green vines and purple flowers. The Hebrew word at the center is 'Mizrach'. The Mizrach - מזרח (East) is a traditional ornament placed on the eastern wall of synagogues and homes, symbolically pointing the direction to Jerusalem. The quote to the right side of Mizrach translates as "If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning" (Psalms 137:5) and the quote to the left side of Mizrach translates as "When our feet stood within thy gates, O Jerusalem" (Psalms 122:2). These quotes are from the series of psalms focusing on the centrality of Jerusalem to Judaism and singing for the peace of Jerusalem.
